Features and fixes recently added to TrailWise.

New Feature: Social Feeds

28th January, 2024

New features have been added to TrailWise:

  • Social Feed: You can now follow other users and see their posts in a customized feed. To follow users, click the "follow" button when viewing their public profile. To view your feed, click the "Social" button in the navigation (or "Your Feed" on mobile).

  • Personal profiles also display a historical feed, allowing easy viewing of their adventure history.

  • The personal and public timeline pages have also been updated, showing route images of past trips when data is available.

Product Update: Switch to Freemium Structure

10th January, 2024

New policy changes have been made to TrailWise:

  • TrailWise is now going freemium! This means many existing features will now be available completely for free. Premium features will now exist behind the existing "Pro" subscription, which helps support further development of the project! Check out the "Subscription" pane in "Profile Settings" for more information.

  • Please review any ongoing subscriptions by checking the "Subscription" pane in "Profile Settings".

New Feature: Heatmaps & Markers

4th January, 2024

New features have been added to TrailWise:

  • Pitching Layers: Heatmaps have been added to indicate potential flat spots to setup camp. This data is calculated based on loaded elevation data, and will have greater accuracy with increased zoom levels.

  • Markers: Markers can now be added to timeline entries, indicating areas camped as well as water sources. This data is visible on your public profile entries, and feeds into the layer system for greater planning accuracy.

New Feature: Multi-Country Support

18th December, 2023

New features have been added to TrailWise:

  • Multi-Country Support: New countries have been added to Trailwise, including North America (broken down by state), Switzerland, France, and Italy. These peaks cover the Alps, Pyrennes, Dolomites, as well as various smaller local ranges within each country border. Happy hiking!

  • Country Favourites: Countries can be favourited to set it as the default view when opening TrailWise. This will auto-position the map and expand the relevant peak groups automatically.

New features have been added to TrailWise:

  • We've now got a changelog! Check back from time-to-time to see what's been added and fixed in TrailWise.

  • You'll be notified of any new changes with a spinning indicator on the changelog button.

New Feature: Usability Improvements

New features have been added to TrailWise:

  • The profile info dialog has been updated with new fields and a profile image uploader

  • You can now add notes to timeline entries, which will show up on your public feed if enabled.

  • Descriptions can now be added to your gear lists, which will be displayed on your public profile feed if enabled.

New Feature: Trip Planning

8th December, 2023

New features have been added to TrailWise:

  • You can now create trips from the routes you've added. Check out the new "Trips" tab under the "Planning" menu.

  • Public trips can be shared with others (even non-trailwise members), and will update automatically with any changes you make.

  • Trailwise members can choose to join trips, which will add it to their upcoming trips and add them to the list of members.

New Feature: Notifications & Awards

1st December, 2023

New features have been added to TrailWise:

  • Awards: You can now earn awards based on various statistics in your TrailWise account. See the full list under the "Profile tab".

  • Notifications: A new notification button has been added to the navbar, containing new awards earned and routes logged. The number of unread notifications will be shown over the icon so you don't miss out on any new info.
